I sound like a broken record to my family and friends. Cruciferous vegetables are gold!!! Those dark leafy greens that some people have a hard time stomaching. Kale, collards, brussel sprouts, broccoli just to name a few. “The more bitter, the better”, I say. They are called “cruciferous” because their flowers form the shape of a cross, a “crucifix”.

They are the most nutrient-dense food on the planet. You will get the most vitamins, minerals, phytochemicals per calorie. They are full of isothiocyanates which act as anti-antioxidants, are anti-inflammatory, and are involved in increasing detoxification of harmful substances in the body. They also help with the detoxification and excretion of estrogen metabolites from the body which contributes to hormone balance, essential for fertility.

Whether blended in a smoothie, tossed in a salad, or steamed, try to add a cupful of these marvelous greens to each of your meals. You won’t regret it!
